The protagonist in Kuku Mehta - Knight in Shining Armour, has been aptly named for the 'kooky' facet of his persona, that makes itself evident right from the start. Pinge does an excellent job in infusing an element of 'mystery' in what would otherwise, by all standards, be labeled a 'rom-com'. This genre-defying ability of his is superbly complemented with his excellent comic timing, as Pinge introduces us to a world of characters, who are (as only the best writers are capable of making their characters) entire 'worlds in themselves'. just when you think there could be nothing more Pinge can do, he takes the reader into a poignant journey of self-discovery, that has one journey back again, from the 'mystery story' this romantic tale has become, right back to its romantic depths. All in all, this is a story that's not only a compelling read, but one you want to return to time and again, to soak in the remarkable nuances of its beloved protagonist. Having read this, I can only eagerly look forward to more Kuku books in the future!
